Bromley Music Makers

Following government advice, all concerts are cancelled until further notice

Bromley Music Makers concerts are given by members at Ripley Arts Centre, a charming Victorian house with a long history of musical association. It is located a short drive from Bromley town centre and parking is available on the grounds and in the surrounding streets (map here) The nearest train stations are Sundridge Park and Elmstead Woods, both of which have a minicab company operating by the station. Bromley South is also a cab ride away.

The membership of Bromley Music Makers consists of both listeners and performers. We are a large group with diverse musical interests, naturally all sharing a love of classical music. Performing members are at different stages of their musical careers.  For example, some of our younger members are developing their performance skills and find that our concerts provide an excellent and useful platform for gaining experience in performing in front of an audience.  And with that audience largely comprising fellow musicians, it is naturally both supportive and knowledgeable.  Many of our members, on the other hand, are music teachers or more experienced performers who enjoy the fun and friendly atmosphere that comes with performing and attending concerts at Bromley Music makers.  For those for whom music is a hobby alongside a busy career, performing may be less frequent; but committing to a future concert date certainly provides motivation to keep up the practice!  Longer serving members often particularly enjoy finding less well known or obscure works to bring to a concert to broaden the musical knowledge of the audience.

For those who find the idea of braving the stage alone a little daunting, duets are always fun and well received.  As a pianist you also have the opportunity to perform as an accompanist or in, for example, a trio, which is also a very rewarding experience. If you need an accompanist, however, then do not worry.  Our committee can help you find accompanists or other needed players from amongst the membership - this is one of the real benefits of joining Bromley Music Makers.  Many musical partnerships and groups have been formed over the years in this way.

Whether you play an instrument, sing or just enjoy listening to live classical music, you will receive a warm welcome at Bromley Music Makers. Musicians of all standards who are able to offer a well-prepared and enjoyable performance are always appreciated and well received. Why not come along to one of our concerts and find out for yourself what a rich and rewarding experience joining us would be.
